Mateo's first soccer game

Mateo is now a "Mighty Kicker" playing soccer through the YMCA. His team is called the Tigers - they wear kelly green shirts (go figure). Mateo's best friend Giovanni is also on the team, and his dad, Jess, is the coach. I had so much fun watching Mateo run around the field learning how to play. Admittedly, he had very little clue about the expectations of the game - he was as much into the animal crackers on the sidelines as he was the soccer ball - but this will come with time, experience and age. Giovanni and Mateo both shared the frustration of not being able to kick the ball, but that's about right for a 3 year old. :) Mateo is a really fast little guy and he is quick to figure things out. It will be fun to watch him evolve this season!

Huddle up, Tigers!

Coach asks, "Now, what do we do when we fall down? We get back up!"

Good game!

Jesus and Peanut

On our way home from getting milk and eggs at the farm, Mateo told Francesca, Chester and me a great story...

Mateo: Mama, I'm going to tell you a story about Jesus and Peanut.

Mama: Ok, Mateo. I love your stories. Mama quietly wonders to herself, "Who is Peanut?"

Mateo: One day there was a HUGE boat. Jesus was walking on the water and Peanut came out too. He went down, down in the water.

I couldn't help but giggle and Mateo's rendition of Jesus walking on the water and Peter who chose to step out in faith and walk on the water, too, until the waves caused him to doubt and he took his eyes off of Jesus and began to sink into the water.

Mama: Mateo, that story teaches us about faith. We should always keep our eyes on Jesus.

Mateo: Yeah. Keep our eyes on Jesus, like Peanut!

Great Grandma's 92nd birthday - Saturday, April 3

On Saturday, April 3 we celebrated Grandma's 92nd birthday! Family came in from out of town and we had a great lunch at Valentino's followed by cake at my parent's house. My dad made a slideshow of pictures from throughout my Grandma's life, and it was so neat to see how beautiful and fashionable she has been through the decades. What a lady!
